Turn off collection of InPrivate Filtering data
Verified with Windows 11 25H2 — updated on July 23, 2026
Supported on: Only Internet Explorer 8.0
Path in the GPO console
Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Privacy User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Privacy Description
This policy setting allows you to turn off the collection of data used by the InPrivate Filtering Automatic mode. The data consists of the URLs of third-party content, along with data about the first-party websites that referenced it. It is collected during non-InPrivate (normal) browsing sessions. If you enable this policy setting, InPrivate Filtering data collection is turned off. If you disable this policy setting, InPrivate Filtering collection is turned on. If you do not configure this policy setting, InPrivate Filtering data collection can be turned on or off on the Privacy tab in Internet Options.
Registry
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Safety\PrivacIE Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Safety\PrivacIE Value name: DisableLogging
Enabled: DisableLogging = 1
Disabled: DisableLogging = 0
Export Builder
BETAConfigure the state, scope and options, then generate .reg, PowerShell, Intune and SCCM outputs — or add the setting to a multi-setting collection.
These exports write the registry — this is not a managed GPO. ⓘ
Applying both scopes creates an ambiguous configuration (computer takes precedence over user). Only do this intentionally.
