Windows possède une fonctionnalité qui permet à un pilote de périphérique de demander un logiciel supplémentaire par le biais de l’infrastructure du Rapport d’erreurs Windows. Cette stratégie vous permet de désactiver la fonctionnalité. Si vous activez ce paramètre de stratégie, Windows n’envoie pas de rapport d’erreur pour obtenir un logiciel supplémentaire, même si cela est spécifié par le pilote de périphérique. Si vous désactivez ce paramètre de stratégie ou ne le configurez pas, Windows envoie un rapport d’erreurs lorsqu’un pilote de périphérique demandant un logiciel supplémentaire est installé.
