Ce paramètre empêche les utilisateurs d'accéder à la tâche Activer ou désactiver des fonctionnalités Windows du Panneau de configuration des programmes en mode Affichage des catégories, à Programmes et fonctionnalités en mode Affichage classique et à Obtenir les programmes. Par conséquent, les utilisateurs ne peuvent pas afficher, activer ni désactiver plusieurs fonctionnalités et services Windows. Si ce paramètre est désactivé ou s'il n'est pas configuré, la tâche Activer ou désactiver des fonctionnalités Windows est accessible à tous les utilisateurs. Ce paramètre n'empêche pas les utilisateurs d'utiliser d'autres outils et méthodes pour configurer des services, ou pour activer ou désactiver des composants de programmes.
