Ce paramètre de stratégie contrôle l’obligation par Outlook d’utiliser des algorithmes compatibles FIPS lors de la signature et du chiffrement des messages. Outlook peut s’exécuter dans un mode qui est compatible avec les normes FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards), un ensemble de normes publiées par l’institut NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) que les agences gouvernementales non militaires américaines et les sous-traitants du gouvernement doivent utiliser. Si vous activez ce paramètre de stratégie, Outlook s’exécute dans un mode compatible avec la norme FIPS 140-1 pour les modules cryptographiques. Ce mode nécessite l’utilisation de l’algorithme SHA-1 pour la signature et 3DES pour le chiffrement. Si vous désactivez ou ne configurez pas ce paramètre de stratégie, Outlook ne s’exécute pas en mode compatible FIPS. Les organisations en affaires avec l’administration des États-Unis qui n’exécutent pas Outlook en mode compatible FIPS risquent d’enfreindre les règles de l’administration américaine relatives au traitement des informations sensibles.
