Ce paramètre de stratégie permet de supprimer l’accès à Windows Update. Si vous activez ce paramètre de stratégie, toutes les fonctionnalités de Windows Update sont supprimées. Cela inclut le blocage de l’accès au site web Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) à partir du lien Windows Update du menu Démarrer, ainsi qu’à partir du menu Outils dans Internet Explorer. Les mises à jour automatiques de Windows Update sont également désactivées ; vous ne recevez pas de mises à jour critiques de Windows Update et vous n’êtes pas prévenu de leur disponibilité. Ce paramètre de stratégie empêche également le Gestionnaire de périphériques d’installer automatiquement les mises à jour de pilotes à partir du site web Windows Update. Si vous désactivez ce paramètre de stratégie ou si vous ne le configurez pas, les utilisateurs peuvent accéder au site web Windows Update et activer les mises à jour automatiques afin de recevoir des notifications et des mises à jour critiques de Windows Update. Remarque : cette stratégie ne s'applique que lorsque ce PC est configuré de manière à se connecter à un service de mise à jour intranet à l'aide de la stratégie « Spécifier l'emplacement du service de mise à jour intranet de Microsoft ».
